Peugeot 508 RXH Diesel – Hybrid Concept Car

PeugeotOpenEurope Holi RVB 300x65 Peugeot 508 RXH Diesel Hybrid Concept Car

Recently we have seen Peugeot release a preview for their 508 RXH diesel Hybrid, which has car critics all over the world expressing their opinions. The idea for the design is to make each day easier for owners, leaving us with the question as to how this vehicle may help our daily lives.

Peugeot has built this vehicle using an innovative design, combining a diesel and electric powered engine and delivering an environmentally friendly option without needing to worry about compromising on power and efficiency. It also offers the driver the option to flick between four diverse driving modes; Auto, sport, Zev and 4WD, according to driving conditions. So whatever type of driver you are whether it’s typical auto, sporty and adventurous, environmentally mindful or you’re into your 4WD this vehicle is customized for all personalities.

Not only has Peugeot provided a unique idea for future hybrids they also did not shy away on design for the rest of the vehicle. With the interior offering adjusted  seat cushions, hands free access, start and stop button and 6 specifically placed air bags, we then go onto view the exterior of the vehicle show casing alloy rims, main beam headlamps, and the newest suspension technology. It appears Peugeot made sure their newest project had all the bells and whistles which their competitors are offering.

Currently Peugeot have not released any news of if or when this vehicle will hit Australian Shores, so once again where left wondering will Peugeot dealerships in Australia ever stock this model and if so what will be the costing.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Wild Weather

snow driving 12771581 200x300 Wild Weather
All over the world people are having to deal with extreme weather conditions, Europe and the US are having to battle bitter winter weather and snow storms, on the other side of the globe Australia is fighting floods and intense tropical storms. As you have probably seen on the TV this barmy weather is making travel hard as airports, roads and public transport shut down.

If you are hiring a car soon or have already picked up your rental car in a weather affected area there are a few things you should remember.

Firstly don’t panic, the best thing you can do is to ring the depot where you will be picking up/returning your rental car. Staff at the rental depot will be able to give you first-hand information about the weather conditions in the area and how safe driving conditions are.

If you are trying to return your rental car but can’t get to the depot you will need to call the rental depot where you will be returning the car to let them know that you won’t be able to return the car on time. The hire company will be able to help you out and arrange another drop off time or help you find another depot that is closer to where you are. If you are likely to miss your drop off time and don’t get in contact with the supplier you will be charged a late fee. If for any reason you cannot get in contact with the depot AutoEurope or your travel agent will be able to make contact for you and help arrange another drop off time or location.

Finally remember that if the weather does change of the worse stay inside and off the roads. Putting yours and your family’s safety first will make sure you enjoy you holiday, even if the weather isn’t the best.

Have you be stuck in terrible weather conditions while on holidays? Let us know!

Eruption Disruptions

Since Europe began shutting down airspace last week, everyone is now aware of the travel chaos caused by Iceland’s Eyhafhallajökull volcano. Pronounced Ey-ya-fyat-la-yokut, the volcano is, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) the largest, longest disruption to air travel since WWII. According to recent reports, the stoppage of flights in and out of European airports looks like it may be set to continue for some time yet.

There are still millions of people around the globe that are stranded. Some lucky people were able to grab a seat on bus, train or ferry services, others were lucky enough to get a last minute car rental to drive to their destination. At times like these it’s fascinating to see the lengths people will take to get home.

One traveller couldn’t get home to Bucharest from a work trip to Amsterdam when her flight was cancelled last Friday, and all trains out of Amsterdam were sold out until Monday. Luckily she had friends collect her and drive her to Cologne, where she managed to get a train to Vienna, and another train on to Bucharest. All-in-all a 43 hour trip.

British comedian John Cleese couldn’t fly, train or boat home to London from Norway, so rode in a taxi from Oslo to Brussels to catch the Eurostar service to the UK, costing him €3,800.

Plenty of taxi companies in both UK and Europe have recorded massive fairs to and from either side of the English Channel, with eager passengers desperate to get home.

Some passengers desperate to board the ferry from Dunkirk to England found there were only spaces left for cyclists, so forked out for the first available bike, which resulted in business men wobbling onto the ferry on two wheeled contraptions, woman’s and kids bikes with pink baskets.

The UK government is considering deploying the Royal Navy, cruise ships and commercial shipping options to transport stranded passengers from mainland Europe back to the UK if the crisis worsens.

There are thousands of stories of people able to get to their destination, but there are still many many more stranded passengers that are stranded. Hopefully the fallout will ease soon, and these travellers will get home again.

If you or someone you know has been disrupted by Iceland’s volcano chaos, let us know. Leave a comment below
